Sunday AM coffee

I started the month out with good intentions to blog more.
10 a month at a minimum, but that didn't quite work out. Eh, I'll keep working on it.

We've had some amazing sunsets in the last few weeks.
This one is so oddly beautiful to me.

Baseball continues to keep us running all over the state.
One of my favorite pictures of Caden sliding into home plate. Suspended in mid air.

Then digging in the dirt.

And he was safe.
This was the longest night of baseball to date.
A double header with the first game lasting an unheard of 2 hours and 45 minutes!
We were all ready to go home after this game, but nope there was one more to play.
The next game was over much quicker, still we didn't get home that night until 1130pm.

All the kids came home for Father's Day and it was so wonderful having them all home. The weather was hot so we spent most of the weekend in and out of the pool.

Kitty on the roof of the tack room.

The neighbors planted hay in the field next door this year. It is coming in really well.
Chyann and I did ride a little last weekend. It was fun. Didn't ride long as it was so damn buggy and hot.

Chyann is home again this weekend too.
She came for my birthday.
Yes that also means we are six months from Christmas folks.
I had the pleasure of having to renew my drivers license this year. What a pain in the butt that was. Not to mention the fact that I previously had the BEST drivers license picture ever taken in the history of the world and now I've got one where I look all growly and mean. For some reason they had me take my glasses off for the picture too, which I found kinda weird. I'll have that yucky picture until I am the ripe old age of 53. Ish I can't imagine that.

My gardens are growing well. Lots of tomatoes and peppers set. I can't wait for that first ripe tomato and that first tomato sandwich.

I'm off to do some weeding in the small garden where I haven't laid that black landscape fabric down and am totally regretting that. Maybe if I get it all weeded today I'll get some down. Really makes a difference in the weed population.

Later :)

Sunday, Sunday.

Today is much cooler than yesterday.
I'd say damn cold actually at 61*, a dew point of 48 and a stiff breeze.
Burrrr. The big heat is gone for the time being.

Yesterday was about as perfect of a day as I could ask for though.
Hot, humid and no storms.
I got a little weeding done early.
My Lori garden is in heavy bloom.

Dodger is feeling much better. About back to his usual self.

I am trying something different with my garden this year.
After we tilled, leveled, got rid of as many weeds as we could I planted my tomatoes and pepper plants then I put down landscape fabric. The hose will do the watering when it doesn't rain and does double duty holding down the landscape fabric. I'm not sure if I should put straw/hay on top of the fabric. Its been down a week now and I can see weeds growing under it, some of which are trying to push through the fabric. The idea behind the landscape fabric was me hoping I'd have to do less weeding. So I guess we'll see how this works out.

Tater got the pleasure of swimming and riding on the air mattress with Caden.

Dodger wanted to get in the pool so bad, but never got the courage up to jump in on his own.

Meanwhile a state away our girl was exploring the Mississippi river.

It's only Sunday morning and I already don't want to go to work tomorrow.

See ya.

Saturday AM coffee

Hot summer weather has arrived and with it some freaking intense storms!
We only caught the edge of it yesterday afternoon, but a few communities near us really got hammered.
I don't think today will be as hot, maybe 90* and high humidity.

This last week has been all about baseball.

A little video of our boy.
Note to self: after applying sunblock try not to touch your phones camera lens.

Coming in for the teams only run scored this game.

Game in another town against a team that four of his Wheeler teammates play on.
The boys can't wait for the Wheeler team to start playing again, which will be on July 2nd.

Did I mention Caden got a job? Yep, when he is not playing ball he is umping other games and getting paid. How cool is that?

Jennifer spying on me while I was mowing.
Yes, again I managed to get crap on my phones lens. This time I think it was sweat lol
The Hubby put new tires, that are the CORRECT size on the lawn mower and WOW does that make a difference. It turns like a dream now instead of like an old truck with no power steering. I got the yards mowed in record time this week between games and before the heat arrived yesterday.

Ol' Dodger had a traumatic day earlier in the week.
He likes to get under the fence I have around my compost pile and have a snack - why I do not know. It's not like there is anything good a dog would want to eat - fruit rinds, tater peals, coffer grounds and all that. Anyway while rooting through there he got stung/bit by something that caused his ear flap to swell up like you wouldn't believe. I dosed him big time with benadryl until we were able to get him into the vet. Thankfully he didn't have to have his ear flap drained, but did get multiple shots and a plug of antibiotics/steroids in his ear that will dissolve in the course of a week.

The plug of gunk doesn't allow him to hear out of that ear and he doesn't like that.
I swear while at the vet he must have lost about five pounds of hair. He was so scared and shivery.

Chyann is coming home on Thursday afternoon!
I can't hardly wait to see her!!!
She mentioned that maybe we should ride horses while she is home.
I'm game, but those nags we've got are about wild so that should make for an interesting ride.
Sounds like Colton is also going to come home next weekend.
It is Father's Day after all.
Pretty sweet that they both want to be here for that.

later :)

The week in review

Our local Memorial Day Parade was well attended this year.
Seems like both the high school and middle school bands are shrinking though. So much that the band teacher has to pitch in on drums.
This was Caden's first year marching in this parade since last year it was rained out.

My peeps at the parade.

Did I mention it was pretty hot and humid?
The girl with shoulder length brown hair on the left fainted from the heat. I saw it happen and couldn't believe my eyes! Thankfully all she needed was some water and shade. Poor kid.

Traditional after parade picture of the kids.
Sure looks like Caden is about the same height as his sister now, if not a bit taller.

We went to St Cloud for parent/student registration day last Tuesday.
I think Chyann will do well there. I'm really excited for her.
Glad I got all my mowing and weeding done the day before because we missed a huge storm that dropped a little over four inches of rain at home.

I mentioned to Colton's girlfriend that we took the pool tarp off and that I worried Dozer would take an unplanned dip in the pool. That very day they came and picked Dozer up to go live with them. Imagine that lol
We are down to three dogs now and that is just about perfect.

I managed to get both my gardens planted during the week.
I had planned on doing just one small garden this year, but some how I ended up with 36 tomato plants and 24 sweet/hot pepper plants. Not to mention 8 pickling cukes and other random stuff. No small garden this year I guess.

Baseball in a nearby town tonight. Sure hope the weather stays nice.

Have a good one :)
